FYE oversees several transitional programs to assist students and their families as they enter the university. Every freshman and transfer student is required to attend an Orientation session prior to registering for classes. In addition, LINK assists both First Time in College (FTIC) and transfer students in their transition by creating, coordinating, and promoting campus-wide co-curricular educational programming and activities. FYE is also home to UCF’s Official Welcome Week, Pegasus Palooza, which provides students with a week of social, academic, and service activities at the beginning of the Fall semester.
FYE is also home to the Out-Of-State Student Mentorship (OSSM) program, designed to connect freshman out-of-state students with mentors who help them transition into the UCF and greater Orlando communities. In addition to programming, FYE also offers Strategies for Success, a freshman seminar course designed to provide students with the necessary skills to be academically successful while also engaging in the Common Reading program.
Finally, FYE oversees the Pegasus Parent program which aims to provide parents and family members of UCF students with important information about UCF and its resources. Family Weekend is a part of the Pegasus Parent program and occurs every fall semester during a home football game weekend.
All of FYE’s programs are successful with the help of our student leaders. For more information in FYE student leadership opportunities please visit out Student Leadership.
