Learn to Surf!

The Out-of-State-Mentoring Program (OSSM) has partnered with the Recreation and Wellness Center (RWC) to present the Learn to Surf with OSSM trip! On April 14, OSSM students will have the opportunity to experience surf instruction on the beach while connecting with other students and peer mentors. If your Knight is interested in participating, sign ups are located at the Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC) located in Room 154 in the RWC. The cost to participate is $15.00. The OAC office is located on the first floor of the RWC, just past the racquetball courts down the long hallway, across from the RWC Wet Classroom and Men’s locker room entrance to the lap pool. We hope to see your Knight on the trip!

Knight Flight

Spring break is approaching and, if your Knight is planning on traveling home, UCF provides a free shuttle service to the airport called Knight Flight! It transports students from the UCF Main Campus to the Orlando International Airport (MCO). Make sure your student reserves his or her spot as soon as possible. Since there are multiple times and dates available, students must sign up for departing and returning buses separately. Your student should plan to arrive at least 10 minutes ahead of the scheduled departure time.

Knight-Thon

The OSSM Knight-Thon team is recruiting members and we would love for your Knight to join us! Prior to Knight-Thon, team members participate in fundraising events to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in the Greater Orlando area. On April 7, we will wrap up our fundraising efforts with a 24-hour dance-a-thon! This includes games, performances, and interacting with families who are receiving ongoing support through the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, Orlando’s local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.

Last year, UCF students raised $1,250,961 for Knight-Thon and we’re looking forward to helping them support more families this year! So far, the OSSM Knight-Thon team has raised $1,723.19 for children battling cancer and we hope to raise $6,300 by April 7!

Here’s how to join the OSSM Knight-Thon Team or make a donation

• Go to this website
• Click “Join our Team.”
• Fill your registration information and pay the $10 registration fee.
  • The $10 fee goes to the OSSM donor drive and is counted towards the team’s fundraising efforts.
