Summer Internship/Job/Volunteering Opportunities

Most students utilize summer break to gain some meaningful life experience. If your student is looking for a summer internship or job opportunity, don’t forget to check out Handshake, Experiential Learning, and Career Services websites.
They can help students to search for a job, ask for a reference, build their network, prepare for a big interview, and seeking out online learning resources. They also provide services for Diverse populations such as LGBTQ, veterans, and international students.

Explore the drop-down menus below to read ideas of how your student can stay ahead in Summer!

A2O (Access to Opportunities) is a scholarship application system to search for scholarships. It lists the internal and external scholarship.

To browse scholarships awarded through the Office of Student Financial Assistance, select Ours under Opportunities. To browse private scholarships, select External under Opportunities.

Once your student log in, they will have to complete a short general application. After the application is completed, they will be matched with scholarships for which they immediately qualify. No further action is required for those scholarships. However, they may qualify for additional scholarship opportunities if they are able to meet certain criteria, which varies depending on the scholarship offered.

For external scholarships, those are advertised are not a part of the A2O system. Each external scholarship has its own scholarship, review, selection, and notification process.

As another semester has wrapped, it's time to pause and celebrate the remarkable journey your student has embarked (or will be embark upon!). As proud parents and supporters, let's take a moment to acknowledge and applaud their milestones.

Reflecting on the Journey

Encourage your student to reflect on their academic year by asking them:

  • What were their proudest accomplishments?
  • How did they overcome challenges and what did they learn from them?
  • Which subjects or activities sparked their passion and curiosity?
  • Did they discover new strengths or areas for improvement?
  • What strategies or study habits were most effective for them?
  • Did they make meaningful connections with professors or fellow students?

Planning for Academic Success

Guide your student in setting goals and planning for the upcoming year.

Help them,

  • Define specific academic objectives they want to achieve.
  • Identify areas where they can further develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Encourage them to explore new subjects or extracurricular activities.
  • Discuss strategies for time management and effective study routines.
  • Remind them to utilize resources like tutoring services or academic support centers.
  • Encourage them to engage in networking opportunities and seek mentorship.

By fostering a reflective mindset and encouraging proactive planning, we can support our students in their journey of academic success. Let's celebrate their growth, applaud their achievements, and continue to provide the unwavering support they need to thrive.

Planning for a successful college journey is key, and understanding the required courses for graduation is a crucial step. It helps students stay on track and avoid unnecessary delays. That's why we're excited to inform you to a valuable resource: The Undergraduate Catalog!

The Undergraduate Catalog is your go-to guide, listing all the required courses for each program, as well as providing information on possible electives. It's a treasure trove of information that ensures you have a clear roadmap to graduation. So, if you or your student have any doubts about which courses to take, take a moment to dive into the Undergraduate Catalog.

Another helpful resource is our Academics page, where you'll find detailed descriptions of our undergraduate degrees, as well as which College it belongs to. It offers a snapshot of the programs available at UCF, helping you make informed decisions about the best fit for your student's academic journey.

Is your student always seeking new activities and opportunities to learn? Look no further! Join UCF Recreation and Wellness Center’s exciting outdoor adventures such as hiking, surfing, paddleboarding, and even scuba diving. The UCF Recreation and Wellness Center has a range of thrilling events to make your student's summer unforgettable.

But wait, there's more! Starting from late June, we offer CPR/AED & First Aid training to equip your student with life-saving skills. The UCF Police Department also provides the Mighty Knights Self Defense Class, teaching essential defensive tactics for personal safety.

In July, don't miss out on the free mindfulness course, Koru, offered by UCF Wellness and Health Promotion. This four-class series is designed to help students manage stress, improve focus, and enhance overall well-being.

Let your student embrace adventure, learning, and personal growth this summer. Join us in making this season one to remember!
